Achieve optimal spinal alignment with our Adjustable Slat foundation - the box spring replacement that makes your mattress better. The slat suspension was invented in Switzerland over 60 years ago and accounts for over 70% of bed sales in Europe. Yet, in the U.S., it is relatively new. The Euro slat base provides targeted lower back and knee support as well as targeted shoulder and hip pressure point relief.
Men and women have different needs for support and pressure relief. Euro Slats allow us to provide a tailored to fit the different curves of men and women, eliminating mattress sag and roll together. Our Euro Slat system works together with our range of mattresses to provide optimal spinal alignment. In addition, the slat settings can be modified over time to accommodate the changing body's needs or comfort preferences.
Our slat suspension consists of two parallel rows of responsive steam-cambered beech wood slats, mounted into thermo-plastic shocks. Euro slats are extremely active and will actually self-adjust to provide just the right amount of giving and support for your body’s critical pressure areas. You will feel exceptional pressure relief on your shoulders and hips and better support at the lower back and knees on our state of the art flexible slat foundation.
2.375" H All Wood, 4" H Upholstered, 6.5" Upholstered, 8.5" Upholstered.
The euro slats flexible slat system is a support foundation for your mattress that consists of a dual-sided series of bowed wooden slats. These slats flex and rotate under pressure, responding to the weight and shape of your body. The flexible slats feature adjustable zones at the torso and upper leg with variable tension settings for individualized support.
The slats are able to give pressure relief where we are heavier and broader—at the shoulders and hips—and lift where our bodies taper—at the waist, low back, and knees. The result is a more weightless dynamic, greater postural stability, and relief from contact pressure. The responsiveness of the system also reduces motion transfer.
When your mattress rests on the slat system, it also benefits from the increased air circulation permitted by the open-slat structure. This helps keep your mattress drier, and a dry mattress lasts longer, stays cleaner, and is more comfortable. It becomes part of the healthier sleep environment equation.
Our Sleep Experts will work with you and adjust our slat system to your personal comfort needs. Questions? Call us at 201.330.1212, or visit our showroom.
Lead time: 2-3 weeks
We cannot warranty or service our flexible slat base when used with mattresses from other manufacturers. These are designed to be used with Berkeley Ergonomics mattresses only.

is this appropriate for gel foam beds
Our Flexible Slat foundation is meant to work in tandem with our Berkeley Ergonomics mattresses. We cannot warranty or recommend it for use with other mattresses.
Given the heights listed -- do these all sit directly on the floor? For example, the all wood version is less than 3 inches in height. So does that mean it sits on the floor and the mattress on top of it is less than 3 inches from the floor?
The all wood 2 3/8" height version is meant to be used with a platform style bed that doesn't have room for a higher traditional box spring. We don't recommend putting our foundations directly on the floor, but rather on a bed frame, a metal frame, or universal bed legs. Raising the foundation up off the floor allows for better air flow helping your mattress stay cool and dry and free from dust or mold.
Do you make a low profile european slat foundation insert that could be placed on top of an existing bed frame? The base we have is metal and flat ,a folding bed frame.
Yes our European slat foundation comes in a low profile configuration -- the lowest would be our 2 3/8" tall all-wood slat foundtion, available in Twin XL, Queen and King Size.
What is the slat width and space between the slats?
The slats are 1.5" wide and 1.5" apart.
