Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world. The flax fiber is grown locally. Our region, Western Europe, has the best climate for growing flax. There is no waste and the flax needs no irrigation. These are only a few examples of how flax can reduce the impact textile production has on our environment. But linen is also extremely versatile. Did you know it was the foremost technical fiber for over a thousand years? It is extremely strong and lasts a lifetime. The Romans called it linum usitatissimum, which means “most useful fiber”.
By putting these advantages to use, we perfected our production process over the years and managed to make high quality linen with a minimal impact. We are a Belgian based family company that has experience in linen for over 160 years. Today, the Libeert family is still actively in business and the 5th generation is still as innovating and leading as the first. Mr. Raymond Libeert is Chairman of the Board and his wife, Amy, designer of our Home Collections.
