Naturepedic: This Family Means Business

What a Grandfather will do for a Grandchild

Barry A. Cik, a "veteran in the field of environmental engineering with over 30 years of experience chasing chemicals," founded Naturepedic in 2003. He began the company when his search for a healthy baby crib mattress for his grandchild came up empty. He found that most child and baby mattresses used harmful chemicals during production and in the products themselves. He turned to organic baby crib mattresses, but could not find a waterproof option, which was rather unpractical for a baby crib. His two sons joined him in creating Naturepedic, a non-toxic, organic mattress manufacturer. They created the first waterproof organic baby crib mattress, designed with a patented food-grade polyethylene cover.

Naturepedic has grown quite a bit over the last 16 years. They have launched many new collections and models to meet the growing demand for high-quality, non-toxic, sustainable mattresses and bedding for the whole family. The design of Naturepedic's products removes the need for fire retardant chemicals, making them even healthier and safer. All mattresses are made with heirloom-quality craftsmanship, ensuring a long and healthy life for your healthy sleep environment.

Materials from Mother Nature

Naturepedic's organic mattresses have been designed with the help of chemists, pediatricians, and engineers. The design process ensures the mattresses are much more comfortable, sustainable, and healthy that those made with risky synthetic ingredients. Naturepedic uses organic materials because, in their own words, "we believe that Mother Nature provides the best materials for a healthier and more comfortable sleep."

Production takes place in Naturepedic's GOTS certified factory in Chagrin, Ohio. Mattresses are constructed by Amish craftsmen. Research and design are done at G.E.M. Testing Engineering Labs in Cleveland, Ohio.

What's Inside

Certified Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is the purest form of cotton, grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or GMO’s (genetically modified organisms). In mattresses, organic cotton is a healthier alternative to foams (which are chemically treated). Naturepedic uses only U.S. grown and certified organic cotton filling in its mattresses.

Certified Organic Wool
Wool wicks away moisture, provides natural fire protection, and offers temperature regulation, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. GOTS certified organic wool facilitates healthy, well treated sheep and the elimination of harmful chemicals in the processing of the wool.

Organic Latex
After harvesting from the rubber tree, the latex sap is cured into a comfortable luxurious foam. Unlike synthetic and even all-natural blends, we only source our latex from reputable certified organic suppliers, ensuring purity, fair labor practices and support for healthy farming to protect our planet's latex forests. The finished latex is certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).
