It All Began with 30 Days
A team of engineers founded American Leather in 1990 in Dallas, Texas with the idea of creating customizable furniture with a much shorter lead time- 30 days to be exact. They succeeded. Today, American Leather has over 600 employees working in their stat-of-the-art facility. Innovation, expert craftsmanship, and performance have driver the company for almost 30 years. They have also committed to maintaining US manufacturing jobs and improving the quality of life for their employees.
Sustainable from the Start
American Leather is a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council, a nonprofit organization created in 2006 to promote sustainable practices in the furniture industry. The organization is known for its "rigorous compliance with established sustainability standards to ensure that all members are demonstrably committed to ongoing improvement." American Leather upholds the standards of the Council by sourcing all of their wood from sustainable forests and designing all of their furniture to create as little scrap as possible. Materials that are not used in the production of pieces is recycled or reused.
Environmentally Friendly Inside and Out
All leathers used in the making of American Leather products are environmentally friendly and use water-based pigments. Expertly engineered manufacturing techniques limit the amount of leather scraps, and all leftover leather is recycled or resold to produce small leather goods. Every piece made by American Leather uses soy-based BiOH® Polyols Renew™ foam cushioning. This filling is recyclable, sustainable, and available in a wide range of firmness.
